CBD For ADHD: Can It Help?

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a type of neurodevelopmental disorder that results in differences in brain development. It will cause changes in the brain activity of the person and affects attention, self-control, and the ability of the person to sit still. Often, this condition begins in childhood and can persist into adulthood. It can adversely affect the educational life and social life of a child.

Anecdotal evidence suggests that CBD may be useful for controlling this condition and its symptoms. Here, we analyze the effectiveness of CBD for ADHD.

Scientific evidence to prove the effectiveness of CBD for ADHD is very limited. However, some anecdotal evidence suggests that this compound can be useful for controlling some of the symptoms associated with this mental disorder. CBD might help with restlessness and hyperactivity that are commonly associated with ADHD.

Studies suggest that CBD does not result in any significant improvement in brain development, however, it might be useful for managing specific symptoms associated with this condition.

CBD For ADHD Symptoms

It is found that people with ADHD often experience anxiety that can worsen their other symptoms. Hence, the anxiolytic properties of CBD can be useful for controlling the anxiety and other symptoms related to this condition.

Some studies suggest that the use of cannabis helped to control sleeping disorders, impulsivity, and hyperactivity in people who are suffering from ADHD. But most of these studies used cannabis as a whole, so more studies are needed in this field for finding the effectiveness of CBD alone for controlling this condition.

Is CBD Safe For Children?

Even though CBD can be useful for controlling ADHD symptoms, it comes with some dangers too, especially for children. Therefore, the possibility for doctors to prescribe CBD for mental disorders is very limited.

Some people claim that the use of cannabis before the age of sixteen may increase the risk of cognitive impairment. This is because the brain is still developing in this age.

Also, CBD comes with some side effects too. They include digestive issues like nausea and upset stomach, drowsiness, headaches, etc. especially when this compound is taken in higher doses.

Anecdotal evidence shows that CBD can be useful for controlling different symptoms associated with ADHD. However, most of the studies conducted in this field used cannabis for the studies. Therefore, more studies are needed for finding how CBD can help with ADHD.
